My love for design was purely accidental and it all started with Kermit the Frog. You see, Kermit would do news stories on Sesame Street when I was a child, and I loved them so much that I pointed my whole life’s aim to be a journalist, so I could report on the fairy-tale happenings of the world. Along the way, I moved from beat reporting to copy editing to page layout and publication design. Learning about layout, negative space, typography, leading, kerning and grids has turned me into an insufferable nerd and a typophile. My classmates at Elon took to calling me Chris “Kerning” Kirkham, because I was so pretentious and uppity about it.
