Look. I’ve sort of stopped writing in Tangents. But I’ve also stopped writing in general. It’s not like I haven’t been busy. In the past few months I’ve done the following:
- Moved across the country
- Started a graduate program
- Learned how to use Flash
- Avoided writing in this blog
Part of the problem is that I have to write in other blogs for school now and writing time is scarce. And that I’m super lazy. That has a lot more to do with it.
I’ve been trying to find a direction for this blog, and I tried to make it my little marketing project for a while. Turns out, that was the worst thing I could’ve done for this blog. I tried doing all these little prototypical blog marketing stunts: list posts, how-to’s. Stuff that I wasn’t truly invested in. I wrote about topics I didn’t care wholly about. Things like SEO and web design. Things I wasn’t really good at. You know what I’m good at? Complaining and going on meaningless tirades.
That is where I’m going to go with this site from now on. This blog was originally set up so that I could complain loudly on the Internet, as well as share some weird stories from my past. It was a place for tangents. And I tried to force it to be something it wasn’t. I’m adjusting course now. I’m going to keep doing the Magnetic Oreo Award and the Hatelist. I’m going to bring back useless stories from my past. And I’m going to try and be funny. Because all of this soulless, SEO driven crap that I’ve been writing is slowly killing my soul.
So there it is. I’m keeping up my trend of posting an apology blog every six months. May it stick this time.
